Listen to Juice of the Vine

We’re excited to premiere acclaimed composer Lorne Balfe’s Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves-inspired music, “Book of the Bard.” This new album continues the adventures we saw on screen in Balfe’s recent composition for the Dungeons & Dragons smash hit.

You’ve probably heard Edgin Darvis (aka Edgin the bard) and his comrades singing their signature tune, Juice of the Vine, during their adventures in the D&D movies, and now, with a beautiful full-length rendition from Balfe’s latest album released exclusively on Arcane Eye, you can summon the song’s bardic inspiration for your own adventures.

What is Book of the Bard?

Releasing June 23, Book of the Bard is a collaborative album written by hit D&D director John Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. As you can hear on Juice of the Vine, the album blends influences of Celtic music, traditional orchestral, and folk music to immerse you in the feeling of adventure you often get while playing D&D. Whether you’re sipping a mug in a cozy tavern or traveling a desolate road in search of salvation, Book of the Bard features music that captures the spirit and soul of the game.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the album, Balfe said he hopes the music will inspire those listening at home, no matter what adventure they’re taking part in.

“Dungeons & Dragons has always been a cherished world of the imagination for me and countless fans. The taverns of this world have a unique allure as gateways to adventure, friendship and discovery. Working with John and Jonathan on this album was a lot of fun. We imagined players of the game listening to this album in the background of their quests. We aimed to honor the essence of these enchanting spaces by crafting melodies that will resonate with fans and take them on a musical journey through the world of Dungeons & Dragons.”

About Lorne Balfe

Grammy Award-winning, Emmy and BAFTA-nominated composer Lorne Balfe is a household name in the media industry.

His projects range from major studios to independent films, AAA video game franchises, television series and documentaries. Balfe’s extraordinary career began after he moved to the United States from his hometown of Inverness, Scotland.

He has consistently received acclaim for his compositions, including critical acclaim for the music to writer/director Christopher McQuarrie’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout, the most successful film in the Mission: Impossible series.

He also recently composed the music for the critically acclaimed Luther: Fallen Sun and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, based on the tabletop games we all love.
