I eat mimics at 5.5e. All colonies can be uniform. So here are five possibilities. Mimics is spending their day in the sun with a new season of Freiren, surpassing the end of the journey later this year. Certainly, Mimics has been having starry moments since the first day of D&D. However, in the anime, the world's most powerful magician falls into one monster over and over again. Yes, humble imitation. And while D&D has moved from an era in which even touching the wrong thing means you're a horrible grizzly death target and that the throw of salvation is for suckers, imitation represents such a classic vibe. Particularly challenging encounters come after players fight tough battles and are looking for what they believe is their fair reward. However, if the imitation appears only as a treasure chest, you will be limiting yourself. Especially at 5.5E, Mimics has no longer had the “stone and wood” restrictions they once did. This means that imitation can fully emulate all objects. With that in mind, there are a few things to drop onto unsuspecting players. Doors/Porturs/Windows This was previously classic, but was even found in the original AD&D Monster Manual entry. Your copycat disguises yourself as a door leading from the room, and when the player opens it, they immediately stick to that body. He is trapped in a room far from the exit. The death of the chandelier/lantern from above is the order of the day here. This is not a more predatory, lurking territory, not “waiting for an unsuspecting adventurer to touch it.” Here we take pages from the half-life and pose as something hanging from the ceiling (especially if Mimic hides in a house with big manners, etc.), and incorporate unsuspecting characters walking underneath them. Particularly beneficial is that you can transfer scouts without realizing one of the members of the Backline Party or anyone. This shape of area rugmimics can really tie rooms together. This is a great way to snare multiple characters at once. Mimic spreads over a wide area, and as the characters walk over it, their sticky body traits grab you. Paintings/Statues give your imitation a little personality – they show off their artistic side by pretending to be treasures of art objects. This allows them to lurk in harmless places on the wall, or in a disguised room along with other objects, allowing them to select their prey again. Why go to a big, armored warrior when that redy person in a robe is much more colorful and tasty? If you want to ensure that your Mimic gets their chosen meal and poses as a book with others on the shelf, you can possibly pose as a book on a big old spell/book, or perhaps on its own pedestal. Access the East Feast Table for Mimics who want to show off, and the food and polymorph, access the East Feast Table with a lovely spread, and play reverse scobby doe on the player. Anyway, I hope these ideas will master your imitation. Happy Adventure! Staff writers and DMs for Bell of Lost Souls, JR covers all the striped RPGs and sometimes eats sandwiches.
