The End of Everything pits larger-than-life D&D heroes against the Great Old Ones of Cthulhu… (+) MythosFrog God Games October is here and we’re in the midst of spooky season. There’s nothing quite like the arrival of fall and seeing giant skeletons popping up all over your neighborhood and horror classics hitting streamers for hours and hours. It’s the perfect time to sit down with your friends and tell scary stories together. Wizards of the Coast has released some classic Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition campaigns that have excited players for years. Curse of Strahd, Ghosts of Saltmarsh, and The Wild Beyond The Witchlight all have great, heart-pounding moments. Dungeon Masters can never have too many options or inspiration, so we’ve gathered a few more options from the review copy on our desk. The End of Everything Call of Cthulhu is to horror role-playing games what Dungeons & Dragons is to fantasy. It pits ordinary people against the terrifying power of the Cthulhu Mythos being. At best, the protagonists are stuck fighting these forces and at best they can survive one more day before the rest of the world can live in blissful oblivion. Could D&D characters and their spells, magic items, and class benefits get any better? In Frog God Games’ End of Everything, those heroes are slowly warped by the corrupting forces of myth. dropped into the world. They may save the day, but the magic they use may become unrecognizable, forever marked by the Great Old Ones. Seven Sinners Demons and demons are great antagonists for horror-themed campaigns. Their powers have often been downplayed in D&D, due in part to the Satanic Panic, but they’re always lurking in the background. They plan and scheme through their minions and agents rather than presenting clear goals. Seven Sinners focuses on seven demon lords, each responsible for a specific sin. This book provides adventure ideas for each sin and thematically appropriate monsters to challenge players. Mana Project Studio offers the 5th edition of this material and OSR compliant articles for groups who want to do some old-fashioned demon-slaying. Tales Of The Shadows Halloween brings to mind images of ghosts, vampires, and other undead, but the dark side of the fey can also be quite scary. Kobold Press’s Tales of the Shadow includes 14 stories about dark virgins, goblin mischief, and other tales that can be incorporated into your Night of Terror campaign. Dungeon Masters can also flesh this out into a full campaign using a campaign frame about a mysterious book called The Shadow Grimoire. For players who want their characters to start with a little darkness inside, Kobold Press offers Book of Ebon Tide with some flashy player options. This book details the Court of Shadow Fae, giving players access to new races, subclasses, magic items, and other player options. It is also available in Kobold Press’ 5e adaptation of Tales of the Valiant. Forbes Tales of the Valiant offers a new take on Dungeons & Dragons 5e. By Rob Wieland The transformation of Grim Hollow is at the heart of many horror stories. Ghostfire Gaming’s Grim Hollow not only offers a fascinating dark fantasy world, but it also gives players the means to use their dark powers against the worst of monsters. Players can transform into a lich, werewolf, or vampire over the course of the campaign, aiming to gain the monster’s powers while also addressing its weaknesses. The publisher is also running a crowdfunding effort for Grim Hollow: Transformed until October 2024. The game will be updated to better serve the 2024 Player Handbook and upcoming Corebook. We’re also reintegrating feedback and lore from the current line to make everything easier to find. Hecna! Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is the centerpiece of this horror season, with many people in the mood for something scary and funny at the same time. Hecna! Hit Point Press’ campaign is set in a classic environment full of chills and laughs. Players are trapped in a dark carnival and must find a way to outsmart, fight, and survive their charges in order to escape. This campaign is written for levels 1-10, but also works as a great spin-off or follow-up to Curse of Strahd or The Wild Beyond The Witchlight. Dungeon Masters should also check out the Deluxe Box Set, which includes additional resources to help introduce your campaign. This article contains my favorite props of all campaigns. It is a ticket that is used as currency in the realm of Heckna.
