Ten years after the original release of Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, a new core book set is coming… (+) Edition. Wizards of the Coast, LLC Three years ago, Wizards of the Coast announced #OneDnD as an effort to update and revise Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. The game has become more popular than ever, and the company took fan feedback into account and rolled out many of the changes suggested through the Unearthed Arcana public playtesting process. The fruits of this effort came to fruition this month with the release of the 2024 Player’s Handbook. September 17, 2024 remains…
I’ve written about Entromancy before, including a review of the first book. Now Nightpath Publishing is relaunching the Kickstarter for a new Definitive Edition, which combines all the extra content from the original Entromancy fantasy cyberpunk and Orichite Age series, plus a six-page comic. My original review goes into more detail about character classes and other core concepts of the game, so be sure to check it out too. What is Enromancy? ENTROMANCY is a tabletop role-playing game set in late 21st century San Francisco. In our world, a quarter of the planet’s power runs on Seridium, a newly discovered…
August 21, 2024 Posted in Ptolus | 0 The march was largely uneventful, apart from two encounters. First, a group of foragers flanking a horde of barbarians. They spotted the group and headed inland. The barbarians told the group to follow, which they did. After a while, they were spotted by cavalry, presumably scouts for the city’s defense forces. There were some tense moments, but the cavalry seemed content to just watch and made no attempt to make contact. Eventually, they rode in the same direction as the group of foragers. Several hours later, the group comes across evidence of…
Today I want to tell you about another Kickstarter currently underway: The City of Arches: A High-Fantasy 5e RPG City Sourcebook by Sly Flourish (Mike Shea’s double-secret codename). I know Mike primarily through his many episodes of The Tome Show (including the excellent Behind the DM’s Screen series), but he has a ton of other great products that you may already know and love. (This Kickstarter is also a great opportunity to get PDFs of those products for cheap!) About the City of Arches Two thousand years ago, a tyrant of unimaginable power built a city that connected to hundreds…
August 7, 2024 Posted in DND Blog: EFK Saga | 0 …They see five figures, four of whom seem unaware of this new development. The room is a barren rectangle with multiple exits. Two doors are decorated with prison bar motifs and are guarded by a single figure in armor. Two of the same figures guard the corridor outside the room. In the center of the room, a beautiful dark elven woman in a stylish studded leather coat stands, looking out into the corridor. Diggin strides through the door, sprinting along on his stubby legs, swinging his axe. He slashes…
Today I invite you to check out the Kickstarter for Moonsoon, published by Arcane Minis, not only because it’s a fantastically colorful project full of imagination and that I was involved in, but also because it shares a lot of the nautical high adventure feel of Tribality’s Seas of Vodari setting. From the Kickstarter page: Moonsoon is an all-new 5th edition campaign setting packed with over 600 pages of amazing content. Ready for exploration and adventure, Moonsoon is a vast world filled with new races, subclasses, cultures, moon gods, avatars, items, spells, locations, and more. Explore the beautiful archipelago of…
If you listen to the ground and put your fingers to the wind you’ll hear some serious poop smacking into the blades of a rapidly spinning fan. Magicians are kidnapped off the streets, earthquakes hit the upper reaches of cities, children are tattooed with runes and sacrificed to nameless gods, barbarian armies are stirred up and cities are mobilised. Overwhelmed by refugees flocking to the city to escape the oncoming barbarian hordes, attempts to find alternative accommodation have failed. In fact, food and lodging prices have skyrocketed. There appear to be many players looking to take advantage of the chaos,…

Making their way through the fearsome lightning tower, they return to Medusa’s lair, but first spend a few minutes firing arrows at the forest of tentacles that appear to still be guarding the area. Once defeated, they locate a dwarven coat rack and smear jelly on it. Minutes passed and nothing happened. The stars of paranoia swirl. Was this a trick? A ploy to lure everyone here and then dispose of them underground in the city? Whoa! My more level-headed side prevailed and I decided to sit back for a while and see if it just took too long. What…
What is Weapon Mastery? Weapon Mastery is a new system developed for the 2024 Core Rulebook. The new version of D&D 5e aims to bridge the gap between martial artists and casters. All weapons are given a mastery property, and if you have access to that property, you can use this property to control the battlefield, increase damage, or You can also give debuffs to enemies. One important thing to note is that mastery properties have no limit on the number of times they can be used. For example, if you have a weapon with the Vex trait, you can…
