According to the D&D team, Dungeon Master’s Guide 2024 has “less unnecessary things”

The team behind the new D&D Dungeon Master’s Guide 2024 says that even though the last version was…well, supposed to be the gateway to running the game in one of the best tabletop RPGs, there was something undesirable about it. I know there are points left. This time, they came with a long hit list and a hell of a can-do attitude. “The biggest problem with DMG in 2014 was the organization and the fact that the necessary rules were scattered all over the book,” explains the senior. We spoke to D&D game designer James Wyatt about the new rulebook. “This is something that takes you into the depths of world creation, not ‘Here are the basics of becoming a Dungeon Master.’ So in 2014, people are reading DMG and DMing. I think there was an assumption that you would learn by buying the Starter Set instead of learning the Dungeon Master. But this is actually a Dungeon Master’s Guide to how to become a Dungeon Master.Surprise, surprise. “I think that’s the biggest solution here,” added creative director Chris Perkins. “We know there are players who are thinking about crossing dungeons to become Dungeon Master. Ta. He says the goal for DMG 2024 was to give them a book that had “content they could tinker with and play with…and help push them over the fence.” . This is part of that. For the first time in a D&D Dungeon Master’s Guide, it leads to adventures that can be run within the DMG itself. (Image credit: Wizards of the Coast / Tyler Jacobson) All advice is tested, proven, true, and approved by local DMs,” continues Wyatt. “It always saddens me to hear that people haven’t read the DMG or aren’t familiar with what’s in the DMG. I hope the organization solves that problem to some degree. What I’m looking for It’s easier to find things, it’s easier to understand what goes where, and there’s less stuff you don’t need.”This was back in 2014 when we were basically building a new edition of the game. The situation is very different,” Perkins said. “We didn’t blow up the system, we didn’t blow up the edition. We applied everything on the checklist we’ve kept since the first DMG was released for 5th edition. We just kind of had an advantage. There were a lot of things we could do to increase our art budget this time around. So part of the excitement for me was to make this book more beautiful and better. I made it a useful book and learned all the lessons from it.The new DMG is scheduled to arrive on November 12th and is currently priced at $39.99 instead of $50. You can buy it for £28.99 via Magic Madhouse instead of the usual £40. Want something new to play, like weekly digests, stories from your favorite communities, or the best board games for adults?
